1. The tap quality is not good
Including the main materials, CNC tool design, heat treatment, processing accuracy, coating quality, etc.
2. Improper tap selection
High-quality taps should be used for attacking parts with too high hardness, such as cobalt-containing high-speed steel taps, carbide taps, and coated taps. In addition, different tap designs are used in different working situations, such as the number, size, angle, etc. of the chip flute head of the tap, which have an impact on the chip removal performance.
3. Excessive wear of taps
Excessive wear of the tap is a very common situation. After the tap is processed with several threaded holes, the cutting resistance becomes larger due to the excessive wear of the tap, which causes the tap to be broken.
Four, axial synchronization error
During the tapping process of the machining center, a large number of broken taps are due to the error in the synchronization of the rotation of the main shaft of the machine tool and the axial feed, which causes the increase in the axial pulling force of the tap and causes the tap to break.
Five, chip breaking, chip removal is difficult
Blind hole tapping usually adopts spiral flute rear row taps. If the iron chips are wound on the taps and the taps cannot be discharged smoothly, the taps will be choked. However, it is usually difficult to break the chips when tapping a large number of materials.
6. The bottom hole diameter is too small
Choosing an unreasonable bottom hole diameter during tapping results in an increase in the portion of the tap to be cut, which in turn causes the tap to break.
Eight, the machine tool does not meet the accuracy requirements of the tap
The machine tool and clamping body are also very important, especially for high-quality taps, as long as the machine tool and clamping body have a certain accuracy to achieve the performance of the tap. It is common that the concentricity is not enough. The tap positioning is incorrect when the tapping starts, that is, the spindle axis is not concentric with the center line of the bottom hole, and the torque is too large during the tapping process, which is the main reason for the tap break.
Nine, the quality of cutting oil or tapping oil is not good
Using non-special oils such as engine oil and vegetable oil as cutting fluid, the quality of the processed product is prone to burrs and other defects, and the life of the tap will also be greatly reduced.
10. Cutting speed and feed rate are unreasonable
When the cutting speed and feed rate are reduced, the propulsion force of the tap will be reduced, and the accuracy of the thread produced by it will be greatly reduced. This will increase the roughness of the thread surface, and the thread hole diameter and thread accuracy are beyond control, burrs, etc Of course it is more inevitable. However, if the feed speed is too fast, the resulting torque is too large and the tap may easily break.
